Description
Since 1983, Gonzalez has made reeds following the highest standards, and today their reeds are in the forefront of quality and innovation. All of the raw material used in their reeds is grown in their “3 de Mayo” plantation at the foot of the Andes Mountains; sourcing from a single cane yard results in unmatched consistency.
- The Classic reeds have a classic and balanced French cut, with expressivity and excellent tone in all registers. Their technical characteristics offer musicians flexibility, and makes them easy to adapt to.
- The FOF reeds are the result of design work carried out together with a group of clarinetist friends to meet their high demands, hence the name FOF (“For Our Friends”). They have an “American” cut with a thicker heart and shoulders/tip left freer to vibrate, achieving a refined balance between treble and very deep bass.
- The “GD” name refers to the union of the Gonzalez and Davolos families, current owners of the brand. GD reeds are designed for the musician looking for a deeper, richer sound. They are made from the thickest part of the raw reed material, and cut to have a thicker heel that provides vibrancy and durability.
