Since 2019, all our reeds have the Gonzalez logo, their model and strength laser engraved. Although it might seem a small change, it represents a great improvement in easy of use for musicians, and waste impact reduction.

Before laser engraving, our reeds were stamped with a no toxic, no water soluble, no smell ink. The amount of information printable was very limited due to technical restrictions, and despite being no toxic, it still was a synthetic chemical that needed to be produced abroad and sent, with all the transport that that involved. After the use of the reed, the small portion of ink that was in it, ended in the trash.

With laser engraving, there is much more precision in the printing, and therefore, more information can fit on the reed. Now they are easier to identify, having the strength and model clearly labeled.

But most important, there is no chemical ink involved. With the switch to laser, around 15 liters of ink (4 gallons) have not been produced for us, and therefore, not disposed.

These are the small changes that we should demand in all our products, in order to increase sustainability.
