Håvard Fossum
Saxophonist, composer and arranger Håvard Fossum is based in Oslo, Norway.
He holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance from the University of Miami, USA (1996-98) and a Bachelor’s degree from the Music Conservatory of Trondheim, NTNU (1993-96) Norway.
In 1996 he received a scholarship from the USA-Norway Foundation to complete a Master’s Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance at the prestigious Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, Florida.
After finishing his 2-year Master’s degree, he stayed an additional year in the USA, living as a freelance musician and, among other gigs, toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and The Finns.
In 1999 he moved back to Norway, and settled in Oslo where he launched a successful career as a professional musician.
He was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy in the Jazz Category in 2007 for the album “F.A.Q” with the Fossum-Aarum Quartet.
Mr. Fossum has performed on numerous albums, not only as a jazz artist, but in film scores, pop music and big band.
He has performed/recorded with Jon Surman Rainbow Band, Jens Wendelboe Quintet/ Crazy Energy, Lars Erik Gudim’s Orchestra and Jens Fossum Bass Detector.
Håvard performs frequently with some of Norway’s most in-demand jazz bands: Rubber Soul Quartet, The Sinatra Songbook, Lars Erik Gudim’s Orchestra (LEGO) and Prima Vista Social Club.
He has performed on numerous tv-shows, theatre shows, events, jazz clubs, jazz festivals, both in the Scandinavia region and in the rest of Europe.
He has also performed with the Norwegian Broadcasting Symphonic Orchestra (KORK), The Norwegian Wind Ensemble and the different bands of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
Håvard is also a highly respected arranger, and has written countless arrangements for big bands, concert bands, TV-shows, the Norwegian Wind Ensemble and the bands of the Norwegian Forces.
